Zelensky: We support a trilateral summit
Kyiv, August 16 (Hibya) – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that during an hour-and-a-half-long meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump, they discussed issues of peace and security; he emphasized that they support the proposal for a trilateral summit.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky held a comprehensive meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump that lasted an hour and a half.
Zelensky noted that the talks began with a one-on-one meeting and then continued with the participation of European leaders.
He said: “Ukraine is ready to work with maximum effort for peace. We support the trilateral summit Ukraine–U.S.–Russia proposed by Trump. Important issues can be discussed at the leaders’ level, and the trilateral format is suitable for this.”
Zelensky added that he would meet Trump in Washington on Monday, stressing that Europe’s involvement at every stage of the process is important for reliable security guarantees.
He stated that they view positively the signals from the United States regarding its contribution to Ukraine’s security.
Zelensky also emphasized that Ukraine will continue to work in coordination with all partners.
