State of emergency declared in Yemen
Sana’a, December 31 (Hibya) – Following the operation carried out by the Saudi Arabia-led coalition against the Port of Mukalla, the Yemeni government declared a 90-day state of emergency across the country.
According to CCTV, the Port of Mukalla, located in Yemen’s oil-rich Hadramout province, was targeted by coalition forces led by Saudi Arabia.
Yemeni security sources reported that the airstrike caused powerful explosions and a fire in the port area.
Coalition spokesperson Turki al-Maliki said the operation was a “limited military action.” It was stated that the intervention took place at the request of Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council (PLC) in order to protect civilians.
The United Arab Emirates Ministry of Defense announced that due to recent developments and operational reasons, it has decided to end the mission of its counterterrorism personnel in Yemen.
