Hegseth said the US has responded to Iran’s “unilateral war” for 47 years and warned that any harm to Americans would be met with force. He reiterated President Trump’s stance that Iran cannot obtain nuclear weapons.

He added that the US eliminated Iran’s nuclear program in a June operation and offered negotiations, which were rejected.

“Iran will never have nuclear weapons. We are striking precisely. Our capacity grows as theirs diminishes,” he said, honoring four Americans killed and pledging to finish the mission under President Trump’s terms.

Chairman of the Joint Chiefs General Dan Caine said the operation would not be short-term and confirmed Trump gave final approval for “Operation Epic Fury.”
